sorry if this is a repeat...

Does it matter what kind of pumpkin? Does it need to be pie pumpkin or just a regular old pumpkin? What about the seeds? Can they choke on them?
 
Pumpkin seeds should be fine they are often used as a dewormer.

Just smash a pumpkin in their run and stand back. Usually, they completely enjoy it. Mine like cucumbers, squash of all kinds. These are all cucurbit family vegetables and yes, they have some round worm properties. It matters not whether it is this kind or that kind of cucurbit.
 
I've seen my hens swallow half grown mice, so I don't think pumpkin seeds are a danger at all.

I tell my ds11 to feed the birds, he takes one of our pumpkins or giant squash we've piled up and smashes them with a makeshift bat. The birds love to see him coming!
