pumpkins?

Does anybody have any advice/ tips for growing pumpkins? I have sprouts planted, and leaves r developing, but the vine isn't getting any longer... is this normal?

They grow roots before vines, so most likely it's still settling in, once it's happy the vines'll add 4-6 inches a day.
