Puppies are dying left and right. Help!

One more Happy New Year post about bottle feeding puppies. Puppies are difficult at first to get on the bottle. They do not like the feel of the nipple of a bottle, and they will emphatically refuse it at first. It helps to dribble a tiny bit of formula into the mouth. Particularly difficult puppies can be held just by the head and with your hand around the muzzle put the nipple all the way into the mouth. You have to get the suckle reflex started, and then they will latch on. Once latched on, you must be careful the milk flow is not too fast or the puppy will choke. Use a human bottle for most puppies, with a premie nipple.

The formula I mention above is a little thick because of the yoghurt. This helps greatly with preventing the milk from flowing fast enough to really choke the puppy. Most puppies once fed a few times from the bottle will learn the drill and learn to latch on themselves.

So sorry they lost another one. I hope the other 2 are hanging in there.
