Puppy Chicken Missing!!

Last night we went to put the chickens and ducks in the coop (all free range) and my favorite hen out of the four was missing. Her name is Black Rose (my 5yo daughter named her) but I recently started calling her Puppy Chicken because she follows us around like a puppy.

We had a thunderstorm yesterday, so my husband thought i maybe it spooked her and she went to roost somewhere else for the night. He said she wasn't there earlier in the evening, so she must have gone missing during daylight.

When I went out today, I saw 3 hens, but no Puppy Chicken

I called and called and sent the kids looking. NOTHING.

What had gotten her? A hawk? A fox? I MISS PUPPY CHICKEN!!

So just a few minutes ago, hubby calls me from outside and I see him standing at the window with PUPPY CHICKEN! I was so happy...I had to run out and hold her!!

I asked hubby if she went broody...and he said no.

I said, "Well where was she?" and he said "Take a look at your first live trap catch!!"

Poor puppy chicken was in the live trap all night...she even laid an egg in there!

Chickens do the darnest things. I too though I lost my BR one day this summer. I looked high and low and she was no where to be found! The next day I went up to the coop to let the girls out and I kept hearing a low purring. Well next to the coop, I keep my big plastic bin for cleaning it out. It had been leaning against the coop but the wind must of blown it over, So I lifted it up and there sat my BR!!!! She spent a whole day and night in there and never made any noise. I think because it was dark in there she just thought it was night time!!! They get themselves in the darnest fixes, don't they?
