Puppy Too Good to be true?

I decided not to get involved with these people and sent them an email declining the puppy and with links to two breed specific Doxie recues in San Diego. I appreciate all of your input. Thanks again.

I don't know about your area, but here, it is common to find "free" puppies being given away for one reason or another. I wouldn't hesitate to take a FREE puppy if you wanted it. My only suggestion is to meet the people at a restaurant or gas station or other public place for safety reasons. The last dog we bought, we asked to meet at a public place. It is just safer when dealing with people you don't know. And our dog is fine. She wasn't free, but she was not expensive either.

On the other hand, if they start to ask for any money for any reason, I wouldn't deal with them at all. But simply being FREE isn't a black spot on the puppy herself.

I think this was a very wise decision.
