Purchased 2 Dominiques pullets at a feed store, But are they?

I purchases at a local feed store 4 weeks ago as pullets.



Wondering if anyone with experience with this breed has any ideas.

they have a pea comb so yes they very much could be hatchery dominiques

thanks I was starting to get concerned since the comb is a little darker on the one, and the only reason I purchased them at the feed store was because they told me they were pullets. All the others chicks/chicken I have were purchased from local breeders as I like to support my community but currently have 17 roosters (not looking to hatch just eat eggs). So thanks again for for input.

I think #1 is a cockerel and #2 is a pullet. I had a dominique "pullet" that looked identical to your #1 turn out to be a roo this spring. The comb and the body color gives it away. The boys are lighter because they get a double barring gene. Sorry!...I could be wrong...I thought I might even be wrong about mine even after it crowed the first few times.....denial isn't pretty lol
