Pure or Mutt? What do you prefer?

I just wasntsure If shipping them out made a difference. Im not totally knowledgeable about what you place in there to keep them cold, or warm, or anything!

i prefer purebred ducks . But only because i got muscovies, if they were mutts the would be sterile. I'm also plan on adding mandarins and runners once we settle in a few years. So yeah , pure ducks but the chickens i will use for egg production can be mutts.

You can always use the float test to check an eggs freshness.

Put an egg in a deep container of water. If it sinks right to the botom, it is fresh. If it stands up on end, it is still ok but getting old. If it floats, toss it.

most eggs you get at the store are over 3mths old. so yours will last atleast that long.

If you're selling hatching eggs, I wouldn't keep them in the refrigerator (room temp is better), and I wouldn't sell them past 7 days. If you ship, be sure that they arrive before the 7 day mark.

If you're selling eating eggs, keep them in the fridge. I have some duck eggs from about 6 months ago still in the fridge. Ate one this morning, still nearly as good as they are just laid. We always keep the older eggs to eat and sell the fresher eggs (or incubate them for ducklings!).

I'm going to have my hands full with ducks and ducklings for the rest of the summer though, so no more incubating for a little while!

What is the cost for shipping eggs? I brought it up to my mom and she was all " We are not shipping eggs, do you know how much that costs?!"

So how much does it cost to ship eggs and what do I need to do to ship them?

I've only bought shipped eggs once, and it costed me $14 to cover the shipping materials, time used and actual shipping. I've never shipped eggs before, so hopefully someone who has can give you a more accurate answer. The further you are away from someone, the more expensive it will be probably, so keep that in mind.
