I believe a black rooster over a white hen could give you that color if the white was not dominate white.

There is actually a forum dedicated to figuring breeds and even genders. Send some good photos there and see if you get a helpful answer. Look at the post "Please Read" to get some helpful tips on taking the photos so people can get a good look at your birds.

Thank you for your comment. I have 2 like this. They are bigger than I'd expect if Sussex genes were in the mix - I made sure they were well fed from young - but they don't seem to match the "splash" orpington feathering, or the jubilee or any other. But they are just stunning roosters, being themselves!!!
