I'm looking for the true blue egg and "wilder" personality for surviving the free range than a common mixed-breed EE, but I don't show my chickens, so I prefer the convenience of a mail-order hatchery over a breeder. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I don't know of any hatcheries that carry Araucanas, but Meyer Hatchery offers true Ameraucanas.

Ours lay pretty blue eggs, and they definitely aren't cuddly birds. Another hardy, flighty blue-laying breed that I would recommend is the Cream Legbar, which Meyer also has.
