Has anybody used this for their adult ducks? I like that it is formulated for ducks specifically, but I am confused as to why their is 20% protein for adults. "Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks" says their feed should have 15-16% protein after 7 weeks.

Or they could just add oyster shell on the side for their laying ducks instead of switching feeds.

Storey's guide is referring to preventing angel wing when they want you to switch feeds at 7 weeks. However, there is conflicting info for angel wing and no conclusive evidence as to what causes it. Purina flock raiser also has 20% and I didn't switch. Though at 7 weeks, I got a little nervous and added in some cracked corn to cut the protein. Then at about 10 weeks, back to the pfr.
I was told that 20% isn't excessive and some feed it without issues the duck's whole life. Also, since my chickens are laying I add oyster shell and crushed egg shell on the side for their calcium needs.
Ducks tend to eat lots of protein if given the chance.

Hello..Mature Ducks should only be fed a 16% feed..Cut with cracked wheat. Forage as in greens and oyster shell on the side.. daily they will eat what they need. Wild bird seed is also good every few days. Mine are fed a vegetable protein diet so I'll toss in dry Cat food every week ...

Do you get your oyster shell at Tractor supply? Really they eat cat food?! Do you still feed oats? Where do you by the cracked wheat? We have 6 wk old ducks.

Are you in the US?
What state?
Some feed stores carry these two things.
Some don't.

I'm in Canada..I buy my oyster shell , feed and cracked wheat at the feed lot. Don't have Tractor supply here.
Dry fish based cat food is an excellent source of protein for Ducks as a treat every week..

Any feed store that sells poultry feed should have bags of oyster shell too.

And yes, mine *love* dry cat food!
