I'm wondering what I'll feed my coturnix as adults. My local feed stores carry Purina Game Bird Startena (30% protein), but not the Game Bird Layena (20%) or Flight Conditioner (19%) that Purina recommends for adult birds. I'd very much like to avoid the long drive to Tucson to get those. I already feed my chickens and ducks Purina Flock Raiser (20%), with free-choice egg and oyster shells. (I know it's overkill on the protein, but I also go heavy with supplementing the chickens with scratch grains, and the ducks with greens and veggies, and it seems to balance out nicely.)
My question to y'all experienced quail people: Would adult quail in an aviary setting do well with Flock Raiser as their base feed with free-choice shells, and what supplements would be needed? I geeked out with the comparison between Flock Raiser and Game Bird Layena (attached).
Thanks! Bryan
