Is that okay to give button quail? Is ANY Purina brand of pellets NOT safe to give them? I think there's 4 brands and they're all supposed to be made for ducks/geese/chickens but I can't find any foods made specifically for quail and since the Flock Raiser brand has 20% protein I figured this is the best to feed them. Its not medicated is it? Also, is the scratch grains that is also made by Purina Sunfresh safe to give buttons? I can't find the ingredients anywhere, does anyone have the ingredients for the scratch grains?

I can't find the ingredients either, but one thing that concerns me is it reccomends only using it for turkeys after they are like 18 weeks old...that would make me think that maybe the feed isn't right for them while they're younger, which could mean they aren't well for buttons. You say pellets, are they litterally pellets or are they crumbles? Buttons need crushed crumbles like what you feed chicken chicks.

Recipe is specially formulated for
raising a mixed flock of poultry until laying age (18-20 weeks).'

This also concerns me, "until laying age", like saying that they need on something else after this... and since buttons are laying at 6 weeks it would be kind of pointless i'd think if it's not suitable for laying birds but that's just my assumption.

also it looks like it's mainly made for birds you consume, and buttons relaly aren't ideal for this. Im sure someone will have better insight on this but this is my thoughts on it after reading up on it.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. And it also concerns me that I can't find the ingredients...

Would mixing Flock Raiser and Layena be okay then? I cant really find any food except the Purina Mills Sunfresh brands.

Yes, its the crumbles kind. Although I have crunched up the pellets for them before.

I'll have to look up Layena to say for sure, but I think as long as you add other ingredients to make it complete for your buttons that you should be fine (since it's hard for you to find another kind) I know how it is, I can only find Dumor, for quail and chickens, however it's protien isnt high enough so i have to suppliment but it's no biggie for me to suppliment

Alright, thanks. Is the Scratch Grains by Purina Mills Sunfresh okay to mix in with their food as long as they have grit available to them?

I assume it's like corn n what not? Sure as long as it's small enough they can eat it yeppers i treat my quails to scratch as well (not that kind but im sure it's not much different)

I'm not really sure whats in it. I only remember it had some small seeds, I haven't got that in over a year probably.
