Croad langshan? I've never had one or even seen one but I remember reading somewhere that their eggs may have a plum-coloured bloom

That rings a bell - glad I wasn't imagining it!

If only the langshan could live in hotter climates

Oh shame - they wouldn't like my 40c+ summers then!

From what I've read ....I believe the Croad Langshans are only available in Australia. There may be a few scattered around elsewhere but not easy to come by. For the record....I would LOVE to have one

One of my chickens (and I think its my SS) lays a light light tan colored egg, where the bloom makes it look pink. Occasionally, I'll get light purple spots on it.

Idk.....but I believe eggs can be shipped internationally for a very expensive fee.

I believe the Croad Langshans are only available in Australia. There may be a few scattered around elsewhere but not easy to come by.

You can find them in the US, but my understanding is that finding birds that lay those beautiful plum eggs is rare. Most lay brown, the purple color comes from the bloom.

Breeding for extra bloom(Egg Cuticle layer) can be done, I've seen what it looks like purple eggs or plum eggs but it's a heavy layer of bloom on top of the brown layer, the Cuticle works as an antibacterial layer
