Purple EGG!!!?

I had thought one of my RIR was laying, but then THIS egg came in...... It sure is pretty though - I did want a nice colorful egg basket - perhaps if it is one of my EE"s the other might lay green or blue...

I have NO clue who all are laying.... the only ones I am sure of are the 2 leghorns - Flopsy is for sure laying, I caught her in the nest, and well nobody else lays white eggs.

I must say this egg is really pretty! Purple on one side and pinky brown on the other - I've never seen one like it!

I tried to take a pic of it, but as you know, it's hard to get that color to show true in a photograph. Here's the best I could do:

Here's mine. Like Speckled said, near to impossible to capture the true color...

We put it in the fridge and when I took it out to take a pic another pic of it...

It changed color!!!

Wow - those look fantastic - I love the speckles..... and Cyn - that one looks perfectly round!

Yeah this one I have changes when I hold it - I don't have it in the fridge (eggs don't last that long around here) but its either the warmth or moisture from our hands - and it turns brown in those spots.

WOW - perhaps I should ask H to hold the chickens and let me check the vents

to see who is laying, then I can narrow it down a little.....

Its super difficult to catch the true color on camera... I had to try without a flash - and that didn't work, but with the flash it was super bright - the pic I posted is with flash, I had to change the brightness on computer to take off the super white spot from the flash going off...

Iris's early eggs were very round indeed. Lee will have to tell us if they still are; but of course, she hasn't laid in awhile since she has just hatched chicks.

I get at least one a week that color- I only have redstars and BO's laying. I always wondered who the culprit was, so now I am guessing it is one of the BO ladies. The first one was a little shocking- truly purple.
