Purple Eggs?

Here is the other egg that was right next to the purple one in the nest. Looks like some purple got splashed on it. If a pullet was producing excess amounts of bloom/cuticle could it be purple? I thought bloom was clear.

The bloom itself is white, though mostly see-through, yes. When layered atop the brown tones from the pigment layers over the white shell, we get purple. The speckles are hyper-pigmented areas, with extra pigment layers, so the bloom has a more noticeable affect.
 
Well, y'all have the topic covered. :lol: But here is a picture of my Marans hen's egg, on the left:

It's not super purplish, but it does have a purple tint, at least to my eye. :)
 
I have a BA/EE that gives an egg with purple hue, most folks say its the pinkest egg they have ever seen. As she has aged, the bloom is getting thinner,,,
