Purple flecks in my egg

Today my Black Australorp gave me this egg. It has purple flecks in the shell! Will try to post a photo

Hi Blingchix6,

No picture came thru, but I have a occasional egg from my black sexlink hen that has purple flecks as well. Its perfectly normal. I love all the unique color combos my hens provide.

Pretty, and normal. Think of that brown color as being spray painted onto a white eggshell. Sometimes, you'll get flecks of 'overspray'.

I get purple speckled eggs when the mulberry trees are dropping berries. at he speckles are especially beautiful on my green Easter eggs!
