My leghorn has a purple and elongated wattle on one side and partial on the end of her comb. We adopted them as adults idk how old she is. She has been laying but not so much recently. We’ve been fighting to conquer leg mites. No apparent sickness, I just noticed this on her today.

What is going on with her comb and how do I help her?

How long have you had her?
Where did you get her?
Is she otherwise acting healthy...eating/drinking/pooping/moving around OK?
Agrees, look at inside of mouth.
Never seen anything like this.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.

Is the discolored wattle swollen? Do you see any swelling on that side of her face? Have you inspected inside her mouth for signs of sticky plaques?

It would answer a lot of our questions to have your location. In my opinion, it should be required in order to have the privilege of posting here. It automatically tells us your climate and whether it's winter or summer there, what kind of parasites you may be dealing with, and what sort of predators you have. It even goes beyond that. When we suggest medications, in some places, it's not possible to find them, and other meds may not be safe for chickens where you live. For example, we suggest miconazole for crop yeast infections, but in Europe, it has dangerous to poultry additives.

Thanks I just added that. I’m in western Colorado. It’s warm here, dry. They have water in several places. We have 4 leghorns that we got around January. They were with a lot of chickens. Their owner died and they ended up joining a large flock. Not the healthiest looking. One is blind in one eye, fighting leg mites in all of them. But the one seems to be eating fine. She looks a little better in color today. I’m watching though

I didn’t realize itd be that big of a deal or even that I didn’t have it showing. I live in western Colorado. I added it. It’s dry and hot here. They have access to water in the large run and inside the chicken coop run. Like I said we adopted 4 leghorns around January. They came from a little bit colder climate in the winter. I don’t think they were taken care of very well. We are fight leg mites that I believe they brought with them. They have a large area that they can scavenge around

There is a product that can knock out leg mites with one soaking as long as your budget permits the expense. Look on Amazon for Elector PSP. I do a ten minute soak for my chickens if I notice leg mites. That's all. Done. Mites gone.
