Just wondering, she doesn't sound upset, but I heard it an acre away coming from the run and was baffled. It's a quiet sound, but carries well, so I went back to see if they found a frog and there was Brakes wiggling in the dust purring. I've never heard anything like it. So chickens purr too?

It is actually called 'trilling' and is a sign of contentment. My girls trill when they are dust bathing too...they're happy! I have even had a couple of times when I was holding my girls and they were nuzzling under my chin and hairline and they were making the same sound. Really cute.

I wasn't worried, just surprised. For such a quiet sound it carries very well. I get something new out of them every day.
