Pus coming out of the eye

Hi. I've recently discovered that this growth thing (that looks like pus) coming out of my husband Sussex hen.
She still eats, drinks etc
I've taken her away from the rest of her flock because I dont want the others getting it or I dont want the other pecking her eye.

Does anyone know what it could be?

Bacterial eye/sinus infection or ri to me o-o I advise you find a vet to take care of it quickly and gently she'll mostly definitely need some form of meds. the eye may not be usable afterwords, just saying :/

It does look like pus. It will need to be cleaned out and flushed, and I would then use an eye ointment like terramycin (which is usually easy to find at feed store or tractor supply). You won't know if the eye is ok until it's cleaned out. Is a vet an option for you?

That is puss from an infection of some sort. If vet care is not an option you will have to remove the puss somehow.

And as coach said some eye ointment would be good.

For flushing during and after cleaning I would use either sterile saline or veterycin eye wash for animals. Obviously care will need to be taken to try not to damage the eye more, but it may already be.

In addition to what Coach stated, it would be best to get her started on an antibiotic as well, amoxicillin. If there were other respiratory symptoms involved, tylan 50.
