i just set two bantam eggs under my broody serama hen. she has been broody since febuary. i know a long time but she is very determined. its not all bad because i take her off the nest everyday so she could eat and drink and poop so she didnt loose a lot of wieght. anyway i decided to give her 2 banty eggs so she will get off the nest if they hatch. so i put them under her on 05,18,09. there hatch date is 06,09,09 to 06,11,09. ill try to remember to keep you all updated. and if not i will definently take pics when they hatch.

I don't have Seramas, so I'm just going by what I read.......

Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds says the following:

"Serama hens don't lay many eggs and don't tend to go broody. Many poultry enthusiasts obtain seramas by buying hatching eggs...and brood them naturally by other breeds, such as silkies."

They sure are cuties though.

- she is sitting on a black duccleXcochinXserama now. i put 2 under her yesterday and i told my grandma i only put one. so stupid me i told her i said she is keepin them eggs warm and she picks up on everything and she said EGGS and she said go out there and throw the other one out. :[ so i did. i put 2 under her cause they where such small eggs. but at least she still has one.

- i agree they go broody but i disagree that they go broody more than silkies. i always have a silkie broody. well i did before i had to get rid of some of them.
