Too many eggs under hen?

I have hen that has gone broody (after investing in an incubator of course:rolleyes:) she's a bantam cross so quite small and the eggs she's sitting on are not quite fitting right under her, I can see them poking out, not fully but about half the egg.
Will these be developing or shall I take few so they all fit under her better?
Would she be shifting them round so the outside ones still stay warm? Sorry, new to broody hens so not sure what's best.
Thanks

Are the eggs standard or bantam? How many do you have under her? What breed of bantam is she? When was these eggs set and what's the outside temperatures?

For my Old English Game bantams, I could only fit three standard eggs (five Silkie eggs) under them comfortably. How the eggs are sticking out, they might not develop properly as they're not getting the full heat and humidity on them at all times. It might be best for you to start up the incubator and put the extra eggs in that and give the chicks to her when they hatch.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
She is sitting on standard eggs as she decided to sit in the laying box my brown rangers were laying in. I can't tell exactly how many are under her as she's very feisty and my hands can't take the pecking for long! I think there might be around 8 though.
I can't put them in the incubator as I already have eggs set and they are around half way along.
I guess I would just take the ones around the edge and get rid of them? She's been on for about 5 days. My other issue is that my rooster has gotten quite aggressive since she started sitting so I have to keep an eye on him the whole time I'm in the pen so I just make my trips in brief!

Sorry realised I didn't answer all your questions.
I don't know what breed she is as we took her in because her owner was going overseas. I think she's just some kind of farmyard mix but small like a bantam.
We're in spring in NZ so it's getting warmer but still cool nights. I think the eggs on the edge would definitely be cooling down at night

Before you start taking away the eggs, candle them. Any eggs that look like they're not developing or is delayed should be removed over eggs that are developing well.
On the hen pecking you, do you have any gloves or mittens? That'll protect your hands from her pecks. On the rooster, if you can catch him, put him in a cage or lock him out of the coop so he doesn't risk any eggs getting broken while you're in there.

If a hen can not cover all the eggs the whole batch could be lost as the hen rotates the eggs. Best to remove eggs so she can easily cover the remaining eggs.
Did you mark eggs or seperate her from the flock, so others don't add more eggs?
