I just put my 2 wk old store bought silkies in with my few day old hatched silkies. They are the same size (I musta hatched them big!) and eating the same thing. Was this a dumb idea? They seem to be getting along fine.

I have heard both ways. But I did and had a good out come! I had 9, 2 weekers mixed with 7 chicks that were 2 day olds....work out great!

Thanks for the reply! Does it matter that they didn't come from the same location? I have a 36 hr. old chick that I did have to move out. She wasn't very steady on her feet yet and everybody was picking on her, so her and a buddy are in another brooder.

Most will say to quarantine for few weeks before putting them together, others will say they have had good luck with putting them together...I only have success stories! The ones I put together some came from My pet chicken, they others came from TSC! The younger they are the better off, less chance for spreading diseases. The spread of disease is the biggest concern, do want you feel is best...good luck:)

These chicks had been at the feed store for over a week and seem healthy, they are also on the same feed as my chicks. So far so good!
