Day old chicks struggling to eat

I have day old silkie chicks who seem like they are struggling to eat. They are very interested in the food and trying to eat. I crushed some up in my hand they would peck at it but not actually eat it. Is this normal or should I be concerned. I’m using nature wise chick feed for silkies and bantams.

In my experience, as long as the chicks are lively and active and have access to food and water, they’ll figure it out and be fine. If they start to act lethargic, that’s when it time to be concerned.

Ok, I did a little research and this is what I found: For the first day or two the chick is alive, it subsists off of the yolk it absorbed, and isn’t hungry for anything else. This is because the chicks would have to wait while the rest of the chicks hatched, that way the mom wouldn’t have to hop up to feed the chicks and let the others get chilled.
