You could do that. We have some roosts in the outdoor runs and they use and enjoy them a lot. I can't let mine sleep out there though due to the amount of predators we have here. I had two large roosters that were sleeping out on the outdoor roosts during the summer one time and they were up against the fencing on one end. Racoons bit one rooster the head and he got away but they bit the other one and killed it and were in the process of pulling it's head and through the wire fence when I went out and caught them. Mine have to be inside a locked coop at night but the outdoor roosts are fine in the daytime.
