Putting chicks under Hen that already has chicks?

Hey everyone,

I know you can put chicks under a broody hen but has anyone added chicks to a hen that already hatched chicks. I would be putting four day old chicks under my her, her chicks would be six days old when I would do this. does anyone have experience with this?

All you can do is give it a try BUT have a backup plan in place in case she rejects them.

Thats the thing, I would put the chicks under Her when she's sleeping. She might notice then and it could go good or bad and ill go from there. My worry is what if she doesn't notice till the morning. I don't want to be sentencing chicks to their death bed, that why I wanted to see if others have had success with doing this or not. Im going to give it a shot and keep my eye on her as much as possible.

To anyone that might come across this question and find this thread. It worked for me. My Hen had two chicks for about 4 days and about 4hours after sun down I put 3 chicks under her and it went really well.
