My ducklings are escaping the plastic pool brooder. They're 2.5 weeks.
I tried putting up paper bag walls, they just ate that and escaped.

There's a herd of ducklings running around my house!
The noise is adorable, but the poop is a bit less desirable.

I have a wire dog kennel, which I placed them outside in yesterday because it was very nice weather. It works well in the duck run as an integration crate too, but it does work out to less space than the plastic pool. I don't like that all day.

Since it was nice yesterday, I didn't put the heat pad out with them. That would take even more space.Thiswhole week is supposed to rain though, around 70* :(
Is it too cold and damp? I can cover the crate but cannot run the heat pad out for them.

What did you do for a duck brooder at each stage? The run won't be safe for them for a little while yet. The older ducks don't seem to mind them, but there's a number of other things that could be an issue until they're bigger.

I have a 4 x 8 plywood raises brooder pen until they don’t need heat any more then move them to a 10 x 10 dog run pen that has been turned into Fort Knox with welded wire until they are integrated with the big ducks on the pond

I've got 2 pools that I've saved when they got leaks. One is a small one and one much bigger. I bought a couple of dog playpens to put around it and it works great. Got them at Walmart and they delivered in 2 days! $34 I think. I used those when I put them outside too. If you don't want the expense you can to Sam's Club and get the cardboard that they put between the product on the pallets. they are big pieces so you can stand it up with something behind it to hold it up. That works just as good but they can't see out but I'm sure they will survive that! The important thing is they can't get out.

I brooded mine indoors in a kiddie pool. When they got big enough to get out, I got a length of welded wire rabbit fencing, 24” high, and put it in a ring on the inside of the kiddie pool along the inside of the side walls to the pool. I just used zip ties to hold the ends together to form the ring and some duct tape to “finish” the ends where I had cut the wire off.
