My ducklings are escaping the plastic pool brooder. They're 2.5 weeks.
I tried putting up paper bag walls, they just ate that and escaped.
There's a herd of ducklings running around my house!
The noise is adorable, but the poop is a bit less desirable.
I have a wire dog kennel, which I placed them outside in yesterday because it was very nice weather. It works well in the duck run as an integration crate too, but it does work out to less space than the plastic pool. I don't like that all day.
Since it was nice yesterday, I didn't put the heat pad out with them. That would take even more space.Thiswhole week is supposed to rain though, around 70*
Is it too cold and damp? I can cover the crate but cannot run the heat pad out for them.
What did you do for a duck brooder at each stage? The run won't be safe for them for a little while yet. The older ducks don't seem to mind them, but there's a number of other things that could be an issue until they're bigger.
