Piggy Report: One dark and unstormy night, I snuck in, put Piggy on the roost and took her crate and all 6 unhatched eggs out of the coop. The next morning, she was in the nest box growling at me. I don't really have a wire cage to put her in, so I thought I'd first try putting her out in the pen with food, water, and her two buddies. I closed the pop door and left them closed outside all day--she was running around scratching and it was good to see her get exercise, fresh air, and sunlight. I thought I'd close them out again today but this morning she was outside on her own so I'll see how long she stays out. If she keeps playing outside for a few days (and doesn't make a nest out there) I'll feel better about letting her go broody again if she wants to.
Meanwhile I have 6 chicks in the brooder and I'll need to figure out how and when to move them into the coop with the three banties (Piggy is a Dark Brahma, pals are a Silkie and a Cochin). Any thoughts?
