ok well my broodies have had their nests hijacked continuously so I have started to incubate the eggs then on day 18 I put them under a broody is this ok?I just read soomebody said if the broody hasn't been sitting for 21d she will not take care of the babies.I know the mama who is on her 3rd broody spell and she is only a little over 1yr.old is the only one who is not getting kicked off her nest so she is the only 1 I trust and she is a good mama, but has only been sitting maybe 1.5wks.

Sounds good to me. though, it always depends on the hen and the eggs. She might be to small, nervous, clueless, or not careful with her nest/eggs. The eggs to also have a lot to do with it. I suggest that you should check the eggs once in a while, but I beleive things will work out best letting nature do its work.

I think I will give it a go.The eggs will be day 18 tue.or wed.so I guess I will slip them under her and see if she does ok.She has only been sitting about 1.5wk.s I know the other broody had to take care of the other mamas babies she has 12 now but all are doing well. The other mama killed 2chicks so she had to go.She looks so cute a pretty frizzle banty cochin w/12 standard babies they look out from underneath her at night. The chicks do so much better when they have a mom in the coop.

Well, she will have been broody about 2 weeks, and I believe I've read that's long enough for them to accept the chicks. I'd sure try it, but like you, I prefer hatching under broodies.
