Putting in a window?

So I bought a window at Habitats ReStore to put in the front of my coop. I have a big ventilation window in the back but i wanted something to let the morning light in. My dad says that the window i picked out is too heavy and wont work unless i reframe the front of my coop. How can I make a window without totally redoing my coop? Can I use plexiglass? my coop is made from pallets so i would just unscrew the boards where i want the window to get to the studs. can I just screw the plexiglass to the studs then put molding around it?
