I've been incubating some eggs and they are due to hatch in a few days. My silkie mix has gone broody all of a sudden. I had the idea of putting my incubator eggs under her and letting her raise the chicks. What are the odds that she would accept them?

A month ago, I hatched about 40 silkie eggs. I had a broodie silkie hen who accepted them. She was out in a breeding pen with them and two roosters. We put a Cozy Coop radiant heater in the coop as she no way could keep that many warm.

A silkie hen that's broody would sit on rocks if you gave them to her, so yes, that will work!

I took out all the other eggs from under her and replaced them with the eggs that should hatch day after tomorrow. 🤞 She growled and gave me some good pecks when putting the new eggs in.
