At what time do chickens tend to go in for the night. Currently the sun has set but of course is still light out.

I think I will lock them in when it is time for bed. And is it ok without food and water? I read they have terrible night vision and wouldn't bother with it anyways.

I do not provide mine with food or water over night.

I just lock mine in the run, and let them put themselves on the roosts in the coop when they want to.

Tonight went much easier. I was hangin with them in the run trying to shoo one of them up the ladder.

I could tell they were getting anxious.

Got one in there but she wasn't interested. She started looking around and another girl followed and then the third. So I tacked up the material. They chirped but I could hear them settle as I walked away!
