I'm not sure when it started but 6/27/2012 she was fine/normal. I noticed on 7/7/2012 she looked bad. Her tail is down, comb extra floppy and walks slow. I've checked her for mites/lice and she's clean. I've checked her poop for worms and never found any but noticed it's diarreha or very small. I saw her trying to poop every few steps today. Sometimes diarreha and sometimes a little black poop no bigger than a dime. I checked her vent and it looks dry and colorless. I felt her to see if I could feel a hard mass and I couldn't yesteday but today I think I feel something but thinking it might be her bone? Not really sure what it feels like if she's egg bound. I saw that she was missing feathers underneath. I haven't really seen her eat or drink much. I threw some scratch in the run this morning to see if she'd come and get some and she did. She pants a lot and usually lays down and looks like she's sleeping or trying to sleep. I brought her inside this afternoon. I put electrolytes in her water and gave her the normal food. I gave her some yogurt and ate very little. When she did eat some she acted very hungry and happy to have it. Mostly she wouldn't eat it. I put some Terra vet 10 in her water this evening. She still pants. The average temperature of where she is is 80 degrees. We don't have an air conditioner just fans and a swamp cooler. I don't see her drink much so I dip her beak in the water to make sure she drinks. Her eyes are clear and bright.

Could she be egg bound? I looked it up and read that if they are egg bound it needs to be fixed within 3 days or they could/would die. Well she's not dead but not feeling well.I think I should soak her to see if it helps.

I thought maybe she ate some oleander leaves. There is one on near the run but I keep it trimmed and also have slats in the chain link to prevent it from coming in and the hen's getting it. When they free range I have never seen them eat it though.

In the past couple of months I have changed the feed a few times. i had them on layer crumbles and was out. I was adding in some new pullets (about 12-14 weeks old) I didn't feel comfortable to give them layer crumbles yet so I wanted to give them something they all could eat (start n' grow non medicated) but the feed store didn't have it and gave me turkey grower. The person at the feed store assured me it was fine and "some" people feed it to their chickens. Once that was gone I went to a different feed store and got the start n' grow non medicated and give them oyster shell. The amount of eggs I'd get a day went down. I didn't know if it was because of the heat or the feed. So I am back to giving them the layer crumbles w/ garlic powder, powdered milk, probios, sunflower seeds and uncooked oatmeal. Could all that changing of food mess her up? What do you think?

You're gonna need to glove up, lubricate with olive oil and do an internal digital exam of her oviduct to feel for an egg. If there is no egg there, she could be laying internally or have egg yolk peritonitis.

She died this morning.I never got a chance to do anything to help her. I was too late. :(
