On mine, I think I have two 45 angles and I neck it down from 4" to 2" to save space inside the coop. I haven't seen a need to put a hole in the bottom, plus I think feed would absorb any moisture prior to it getting all the way to the bottom. If it is sealed there shouldn't be any water getting in there.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
