I built a PVC feeder just like this one and I have a minor issue. I fill the tube up to the top, but as the birds eat, the food doesn't really come down into the feed area. This is basically because as they peck, they turn the food at the bottom into fine dust, which then accumulates and that little bit doesn't allow the food to slide down.
I'm assuming they won't eat the 'dust' as readily so I never want to just leave it until it's gone and the other food slides down....So, every day or two I have to stick my hand in the head-holes and pull new food into the eating area.
Anyone else have this issue? Wondering if I missed something in pvc-feeders-101.
