I tried to copy what other folks have done, but I musta done it wrong. The feed doesn't seem to move down in the buckets and the girls don't seem able to get at it unless I shake the bucket.
I used buckets from lowes, 45 degree 2 inch PVC. Pictures below.

Ours (which we no longer used because chipmunks were getting inside it) was made with 3" elbows. I tried to keep the feed level at the top of the elbow and that seemed to work fine. The girls (and chipmunks :barnie) had no trouble using it.

Elbows need to be bigger. 3” is typical and 4” for roosters with large combs. I’ve seen some designs where a portion of elbow on bucket side near bucket bottom is removed to allow a bit more feed into the area.

Are you filling it right to the top. Gravity can’t get the food out if the level of the feed is low
