PVC pipe feeder - best bottom?

I'm starting to make a PVC pipe feeder. I've seen the following for the bottom part of the feeder (where the food is):

Corner litter pan
Larger PVC pipe top
Tupperware dish
Angled PVC pieces
Rounded PVC pieces

I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting.. to the people that have one, what it the best for working, cleaning, etc. And how high off the ground should they be? I have Silkies and Barred Rocks.

High enough so they cant kick the things arounf it in the food. Sounds like a good idea!
