You're likely going to need a lot more than that in the desert - 2 to 3 sq ft per bird in open ventilation is the recommendation in hot climates. I know you just finished building but be prepared for the possibility of removing most if not all of the coop wall facing into the run or replacing it with wire mesh.That's what you been telling the other guy and I think maybe you are right. Coincidently, we had one of our first hottest days of the Sping here in Califa high desert Victorville Ca. 95°. an we're not even into summer yet were it's really HOT.So,with that said I went and drilled 4/4"vent holes on the back side and on the rt. just under the roof.
