Hmm, well around here, they are easy to find, at Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowe's. They are usually in big open bins, with a picture of what each piece is and the prices. Most good hardware stores carry lots of PVC fittings.
Keep in mind that PVC schedule 40 breaks down in sunlight so to make it last longer, it should be coated with a plastic paint and a reflective one at that. Schedule 80 can with-stand UV rays more so than 40 but the price of it is higher and the product is thicker also.
I've made a number of cages out of PVC....let me see if I can locate one to post up: Well I looked on my hard drives quickly and couldn't locate the outdoor one I built but I did find the indoor one that's on wheels:
It housed a Mexican Iguana "Harry" when we would go to reptile shows. I used regular sch. 40 1-1/2 PVC since it was going to be indoors. The outside one I painted black to match the netting I was using. The above unit would break down in 6 sections within 7-8 minutes for transporting. Each wall is a section top and bottom is a section and I used wing-nuts for easy removal. The base has casters so I could roll it around, the inside had 2 ladders and 2 shelves.
