Does anyone out there raise Pyncheons I have one young pair. Just had my first two babys hatch out. Mine are the porcelian variety. Here is a pic of them when they were younger. As you can see the roo doesn't have the required tuffknot. I am hoping the offspring will ,then I will cull him out. I'll get new pics tomorrow.

I've raised Pyncheons for about 15 years.... Both of your birds have white legs...they need willow colored legs to meet the standard...if you want "pet" quality or don't intend to show...they'll be fine.

greenish-yellow colored legs....and not straw colored...or blue-slate...or white...here is a Pyncheon cockerel with the "CORRECT" colored legs.....

ok, I have seen some crossbred banties with greenish yellow legs....maybe they were crossed with pycheon? Cause old english only has white, blue and black legs...

There are other breeds and/or varieties that have willow colored legs.... To have willow legs...males need yellow and blue from both parents to get willow.....females need yellow from both parents and blue from their fathers.... Pyncheons HAVE to have tassels/crests....anything else is a DQ. Your birds look like they have nice Porcelain color from what I can see.....just need the proper leg color and a crest. I have not seen ANY Pyncheons for sale with the correct color of legs...some have no crests and white earlobes....just know what you're buying.

Thanks for the critique. I really had know ideal what the standard was. Mine will be for pet only but I would like to improve them so they are what they are supposed to be. Is the crest partly a result of a vaulted skull like in silkies? I noticed one of the chicks I hatched has a slight rise in the top/back of the skull. Mine do have good coloring. I didn't get pics today will try tomorrow.
