Hi everyone :) I bought a pygmy doe last year, and now I am planning to breed her. But, recently a reliable breeder warned me against it because she was getting older. I just have a few questions:

My doe is 6 years old and has only kidded 2 different times, 4 years ago and 1 year ago. I have heard that as pygmy goats get older, their pelvis shrinks, causing them to have more serious kidding problems.

1. Is this true?

2. Should I breed her? Why or why not?

Thanks for any help! I would really appreciate it.

You know, if she'd never been bred before, then it could be a problem. But she has had successful kiddings. And 5-6 is not old at all, for a goat, even a breeding goat! Is she healthy? Is she a good weight (not overweight or underweight)? Do you have a good livestock veterinarian in the area? Start getting her ready for breeding, like if you are in a low selenium area, supplement her with it (selenium gel or BoSe).
