hello... i just got my pygmy goats castrated this evening, she used a sav on it, but what should i put on it for the next few days to ward off infection?

"Sav"... do you mean salve? And who is "she"? A veterinarian? The breeder? Another goat keeper?

What method of castration was used? There are three major ones. A burdizzo is a clamp that crushes the spermatic cord and blood supply, it does not stay on the testes. Banding is just that, a tight band applied to cut off blood to the testes over a period of time. Band stay on until the testes fall off. And then there is cutting, where the scrotum is cut open and the testes are removed. This kind of castration causes more infections, as it opens the body up to infection.

Keeping the area clean and dry is best. Salves, ointments, and creams do not allow the area to dry. A quick spritz of fly spray is critical to keep flies from bothering the area, and some blu kote will help against infection?
 
I agree that we need to know more info about the procedure. Open castrations are usually just sprayed with an antibiotic spray and left open to drain. They heal up quite nicely.
