Thought some of you might like this one... Dedicated to our wonderful Pyr, Isabelle.

Autumn Moon
Did you see the moon tonight,
Lighting the eastern sky?
Reflecting autumn's faded sun light
As the wind whispers a lullaby.

Gazing at the stars above,
Listen, you can hear
A red fox’s mourning cry
As he creeps ever nearer.

He stalks along the rusted fence,
Erected a century before.
He can almost taste the sumptuous feast
Of fattened hens he so adores.

A ghostly figure, bathed in light
Makes its way, silently, down the path.
She catches him in her crushing jaws
And kills the object of her wrath.

She has kept her guard for months
and knew the time was ripe.
The devilish fox would make his run
By the autumn full moon’s light.

The Pyrenees has earned her keep
Once more, brave guardian.
Fearless protector, compassionate friend.
Prized above all by her humans.

My blog...

Lovely. Brought a tear to my eyes. I had a fur-friend just like this.

She died protecting us from a badger. He was so heavy it broke her neck as she shook him back and forth. We didn't know her neck was fractured until her spinal column swelled and she became paralyzed. She was my first mastiff. I miss her everyday and she died 11 years ago. RIP Maddie
