Does she say "quack" loudly or does she have a quiter, raspy sound? Only the females actually quack. It takes them 2-4 months before they will start quacking though, if they are females.
i have 2 call mixes that both looked like that, I knew 1 was a male though, after about 3-4 months he started changing colors, he looks like a gray call drake now or mallard drake. he looked hideous during his transformation though. he didn't develop his tail curl until afterwards too. always had a quiet quack.

Their tail looks flat and straight. So does that mean girlie?
What do duck eggs taste like> do they taste like chicken or are they gamey? Do people eat duck eggs, or should I get a rouen boy? LOL
Hugs and Thanks!

Maybe you have males then? All my female ducks can quack pretty loudly. The males do get a curled tail feather, but mine don't usually get the curly tail feathers until they are older than a few months. Also the male rouen or mallard coloring doesn't show up right away, I think it isn't until the second molt, if I remember correctly. As for duck eggs, I prefer them over chicken eggs. I have been raising ducks for about 6 or so years for their eggs. They have a rich, buttery taste. Chicken eggs tend to be blander and more runny when cooked. My kids think cooked chicken eggs are slimy but love the duck eggs.
I am pretty sure they are too young to tell by their voices yet.. and they will not have curled tails yet if they are drake, again too young. Their tails do not curl until about 4ish months old, I believe.
It looks like a mallard to me. Which would make sense since they are the "cheapest" duck hatcheries usually sell - thus throwing them in mixes like that. If it is, a good inkling on what it is will be when it molts and gets its adult feathers. Drakes look different then hens.
As for eggs - I had never had one until today.. I like them better than chicken eggs.
