How many of you "converse" with your ducks. I've just taught my indoor inner duck to respond to me with quacking (to the tune of mealworms in his hydrotherepy bath)

Is this a good thing...is there anything else I can teach him?

(it was fun until 5 am when I was asleep and the duck wasn't and discovered that quacking woke the big feeder up)

Wow, you have an indoor duck? How does work? I do talk to mine as I open their duck house outside each morning. I also speak as I work around them or enclosing them inside at night. I have not taught them any tricks though.

I talk to my ducks the same way I talk to my preschool-aged kids when it is time for a "teaching moment", you know, "that's not very nice, Mr. Quackers, everyone needs a turn in the pool" "Stop telling me what to do, Mrs. Broody, you are not the boss of everyone."

The neighbors must think I'm quacking up....sigh....most of the neighbors like to stop by and see the duck antics, but we have a few lug-heads who think it's clever to walk by the yard and shout "Aflac" when they pass by. The ducks just tilt their heads to the side and look at these guys like they're morons--priceless.

She's indoor whilst recovering. Right now she's not very mobile on the ground so she literally sits on the kitchen tile in the corrner and watches me. She did give the dog a good nip for getting too close.

She will be back outdoors when she's fat and walking
