Hi all! Ok, y'all are probably going to think that I'm crazy, but I'm not. (At least, I don't think so...

) My 2 month old Production Red chick is quacking! Yes, quacking. She's never been around ducks or geese before except for when she was for sale at the feedstore. Has anybody else had this happen before? Is this normal for a chick her age? Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. Earlier this evening I picked her up and looked down her throat and her nose to see if anything was blocking it and I didn't see anything. Tomorrow I'll see if I can get a video of her doing if you'd like to see it.

Is there any way you can get a recording or video with sound of it?

I have NEVER heard of this. I had a rooster that sounded like it may have been 'quacking' but it was a respiratory infection, but it sounded more like he had a bad cold to me. I hope she's not sick, but it's a possibility, hopefully you just have a very very 'special' chicken. LOL

Edit: LOL. You answered while I was typing, just ignore this one. When you look at her face, look for discharge(runny nose, runny eyes) and listen for wheezing or a hoarse sounding voice.

Just upload the video using Youtube or Myspace and then post the link to the video, make sure the video is available for public use.

Yeah, sounds like the adolescent voice-change "lost" call to me. It sounds a lot like a quack. My adolescent RIRs do that too, when they're separated from their family group.
