I don't believe domestic ducks to be monogamous. Nor do they stick to their own breed. There are a few hatcheries that do sex, but you need a minimum of 10 ducks. You may be able to get someone to go in on an order with you. We ordered 10 ducks intending to keep only a few and ended up keeping all 10 plus the extra drake they sent and have ended up breeding them. LOL they are just as contagious as chickens! Oh phew. Well that's some good news at least, thanks Froggie.

Order wise, I donno... I just hate the idea of shipping the little ones very far... and the cost is very high for it. It would be more practical to drive to the farm nearest us instead. But, I think I'ma call the local feed stores and see if they'll be putting in orders. If breed (pairing wise) isn't a concern then I really don't mind what flavor they get. Since I can't settle on one anyways.. they're ALL too cute. GAH! Maybe going that route would be better... let someone else decide.

Add to that that the max fowl we can have in our city is four... well getting 'stuck' with 10 is just not possible. Granted, while they're inside and fluffy no one would know, but eventually they have to go out, so I worry about ordering too many. But at the same time, if I just got four, well could end up with four drakes... gah! What a mess.
