Hello again. This batch of baby quail is driving me nuts... They hatched two weeks ago , and one has a splayed leg. I tried to make a cast between the legs so it couldn't get them as far apart ( im sorry, I'm from Germany and my English is not the best, im not sure how to describe it better. I guess you get the picture). But it's getting worse. The main problem is that it can't move right with the cast , It keeps falling over and then the others pick at the toes. But without it the leg gets worse. I don't know what to do.

Here's one pic with the tape on. It just keeps stretching both legs then

Have to agree with the dislocated hip, euthanasia is best for everybody, especially the bird. I kept a wry neck and some sort of mutant dwarf chick from my last hatch, they survived but were half the size of the other birds at six weeks, getting stepped on and bullied and covered in poop. We culled them with an extra male but I don’t think it was worth it for us or the birds.

Thanks, I thought about culling too, but thought maybe I could give it a try first... The chick is growing and healthy otherwise. But if its a hip problem it probably is the best
