Hey guys... I'm officially going to try to hatch quails!! Right now my bator is set at 54% humidity and it is 100.5• degrees F. That is what someone recommended for a 80- 90 percent hatch rate. Is this correct? They are courtnix quail. ANY tips and experiences at all and how to candle them and the incubation period ect. are VERY helpful. Thanks-
Random.

hello!
I incubate quails myself,
your temperature and humidity sounds good

and to candle them you can use a small camping torch and make a tunnel with your fingers so the light is all directed to the one spot, or if the egg is too speckley to see through you can always try water candling. This is when you (first check for any cracks!) place the egg in a glass of water and watch if it wiggles. then put it straight back in the incubator.
Hope this helped!

Expecting a 80-90% hatch rate when you've never run quail before is asking for a let down. If the eggs are shipped anything over 50% would be good, if they are local eggs you'll likely do better.
