Quail breeder cages

I can make them....but having a local amish man make mine for sake of time and materials. Having him use Coated wire for the bottoms of the cages.
Will post pics once I get them.

I prefer natural aviaries over cages, most don't require a great deal of skill or even "plans" to construct. There are examples posted here on this forum, do a search for quail or pheasant housing and avairies and you can pull some ideas.

A simple, square 8x8x8 aviary can be constucted with 2x4s and poultry netting or hardware cloth. Build like giant box, wrap wire and make a door. Won't even have to cut the wood if you made a wire door. This size seems large for little quail, but for species such Bobwhite, Gambel, Valley, etc, gives them lots of space for natural rearing and space for you to add shrubs and other items. One could also add a pair or two of doves (finches if smaller wire is used).

Well, maybe I am more constructive than most (I offset that by some destructive tendencies) but if that one link from Victory Hill doesn't spell it out enough you may just want to buy something from the second link.

Even if you break down the GQF pen. The pens are something like 24" x 10" x 10" with a slanted floor. Get some paper and draw it out or better yet to get an idea of what is going to work build it out of cardboard first. It just takes some time to design it and then transfer it to the real materials.

You can do it

An aviary is just a box that fits your needs or space and is covered with netting or wire. Just think back to when you were a kid and made a tent with blankets over a table. A table with netting draped over it would make a usable aviary. Well maybe not but you get the idea. Anything to keep the birds in and the predators out works and that actually depends on the predators you have in your area.
